McQuaid 23, Aquinas 9 While it wasn't as dramatic as their previous four comeback victories, the Knights erased a 9-0 deficit to win the 60th Anniversary of the McQuaid-Aquinas rivalry. McQuaid has now won the last six straight regular season matchups, with nine wins overall including the playoffs. Aquinas leads the all-time series 37-24. Trent Buttles tossed a swing pass to Derrion Battle who took it 82 yards on the first play from scrimmage to give the Li'l Irish a 7-0 lead. They made it 9-0 when Syracuse commit Quante Gillians forced a throw out of the end zone that was ruled intentional grounding. The Knights started their comeback machine in the second quarter. JP Gianforti blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone to make it 9-7. Later in the second quarter, Allen Nesmith busted off a 68-yard touchdown for a 15-9 halftime lead. After a scoreless third quarter, Aquinas drove into the red zone looking for the game-tying score. However, Zach Couch deflected a pass on fourth down to give the ball back to the Knights. McQuaid then engineered an 85-yard drive to run out most of the clock and secure the win. Couch barreled his way into the end zone to make it a 23-9 final. Allen Nesmith ran the ball 24 times for 203 yards on the ground as he continued his strong season. McQuaid (5-0) will host UPrep on Saturday, October 12th. Aquinas (3-2) will travel to Pittsford on Thursday, October 10th. Canandaigua 28, Monroe 12 Drew Williamee's two touchdowns and Trey Comella's 142 rushing yards helped Canandaigua beat Monroe on Friday night to remain undefeated. The game was a battle of state-ranked teams and a potential playoff preview, with Canandaigua ranked 5th in Class A and Monroe slotted 16th. Canandaigua scored the game's first two touchdowns as Williamee tossed a 27-yard touchdown to Comella, followed by a short rushing touchdown from Jack Clark. Monroe found some life late in the second quarter when Pooty Cunningham scrambled and threw a ten-yard touchdown to Styhles McKenzie-Baker to make it 14-6 at the half. Monroe had the ball in the third quarter with a chance to tie the game, but Jack Clark intercepted a pass and took it 61 yards to the end zone to make it a 21-6 game. Williamee ran in a short touchdown midway through the third quarter to make it 28-6. Comella finished the day with 20 carries for 142 yards and a receiving touchdown. Pooty Cunningham led Monroe with 101 yards and two passing touchdowns, caught by Messiah Hampton and McKenzie-Baker. Canandaigua (5-0) will look to stay unbeaten next week as they travel to Wilson on Friday, October 11th. Monroe (3-2) will look to get back in the win column, hosting Greece Arcadia on Saturday, October 12th.  Palmyra-Macedon 42, Greece Olympia/Odyssey 30 The Red Raiders won a wild, high-scoring game to move to 3-1 on the season. Pal-Mac led 15-14 after the first quarter and was up 23-22 at the end of the half. Pal-Mac scored another touchdown to go up 29-22 and got into the red zone on a wild play. Pal-Mac's quarterback got sacked and fumbled the ball, but Mason Delmarle scooped up the ball and ran over 50 yards to go into Griffins' territory. The Red Raiders faced fourth and goal when they threw a pass into the end zone that was picked off by Matt Valicenti who took it the length of the field for a touchdown and a 30-29 lead. In the fourth quarter, Pal-Mac responded Delmarle had a strong run for a 25-yard touchdown to make it 35-30. On the ensuing possession, Anthony Porpora intercepted an Oly/Ody pass to give his team the ball back. Both teams fumbled on their next possessions, which allowed Timothy Batterby to power his way in for the game-sealing touchdown. Pal-Mac (3-1) will visit Geneva on Friday, October 11th. Olympia/Odyssey (3-2) will take a trip to take on Newark/Marion on Thursday, October 10th. Eastridge 54, Rochester Prep 0 Eastridge picked up its third-straight win with a shutout victory over Rochester Prep, led by Benny Calixto.  The Lancers put up 42 points in the first half and cruised to the win from there. Calixto threw for 124 yards and totaled three touchdowns in the win. Christian Beason had a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass. Dwayne Collins had a 32-yard touchdown reception. Briyceton Thomas had eight carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Sylas VanScott had six carries for 36 yards and a touchdown. Myles Hammond returned an interception 94 yards to the endzone.  Eastridge (3-2) will travel to Batavia on Friday, October 11th. Rochester Prep (1-4) will host Vertus on Saturday, October 12th.  East/WOIS 47, Wilson 0 Tyler Benjamin had four total touchdowns as the Eagles rolled to their fourth straight victory. Benjamin finished with 205 passing yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 35 yards and a touchdown. Jaylyn Melton had a pick-six on the very first play from scrimmage and also took in a short pop-pass for a touchdown. Kendric Jackson had a 67-yard touchdown catch while Kelvin Shepard had three catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Jeremiah Tucker had two sacks on defense and forced a fumble. Amir Bush had a sack and recovered a fumble for a 30-yard touchdown. East/WOIS (4-1) will travel to Brockport on Thursday, October 10th. Wilson (1-4) will host Canandaigua on Friday, October 11th. Newark/Marion 27, Midlakes 12 Newark/Marion handed Midlakes its first loss of the season with a 27-12 victory thanks to some explosive plays in the second quarter. After a scoreless first quarter, Newark/Marion took the 7-0 lead from a punt return touchdown by Ki'marion Woolfolk for 76 yards.  Later in the quarter, the Reds followed it up with a 64-yard pass from Michael McGavisk to Nolan Benedict for the touchdown and a 14-0 lead.  Midlakes started to go on a drive, but defensive lineman Carlos Martinez read a pass and intercepted it, taking it 65 yards for a touchdown. After Midlakes finally got on the board late in the second quarter, Levar Moore returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a 27-6 halftime lead. McGavisk totaled 78 passing yards and the Reds were led on the ground by Moore with five carries for 61 yards. Midlakes was led by Steven Montemorano who had a passing and rushing touchdown. He threw a 67-yard touchdown to Benjamin Horning. Trey Martin led the Screaming Eagles on the ground with 90 yards on 16 carries.  Newark/Marion (2-2) will host Greece Olympia/Odyssey on Thursday, October 10th. Midlakes (3-1) will travel to Penn Yan/Dundee on Saturday, October 12th.
