A Blue Alert has been issued for a 33-year-old man police say shot an officer multiple times in the Texas Panhandle late Thursday night. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a Blue Alert was issued for 33-year-old Seth Altman for his involvement in the death or injury of an officer in Hall County, Texas. KCBD-TV, the NBC affiliate in Lubbock, said Memphis Chief of Police Rex Plant was shot while serving an arrest warrant for burglary late Thursday night. Plant, KCBD reported, is in stable condition in a Lubbock hospital after the shooting. DPS officials said Altman was last seen on foot at about 11:04 p.m. on Thursday in the 200 block of South 4th Street, headed toward U.S. Highway 287 in the Hall County town of Memphis, Texas. According to DPS officials, Altman is white, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 220 pounds. He has red or brown hair and was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans. Altman is believed to be armed and dangerous, officials said. Anyone who sees him should not approach him and instead call 911. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at 806-259-2636.
