LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A 6-year-old child was wounded Friday morning by a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to the Long County Sheriff's Office. According to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles, the child acquired a handgun at a home on Sandy Run Road and fired the weapon striking him in the chest. The child was flown to a hospital in Savannah where his condition is unknown. Nobles said how the child acquired the gun is under investigation. This is an ongoing investigation and WSAV will update when more information is available.
