ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — An Indianapolis woman was charged after allegedly fracturing a 2-year-old's shinbone at a Zionsville daycare in late July. Areeana Adeniyi, 26, was charged with the following: Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury to a Person Less Than 14 years old, a Level 3 Felony Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 3 Felony Flashing lights on top of police patrol car (iStock) According to court documents, a 2-year-old at a Zionsville daycare was under the supervision of Adeniyi when their leg was fractured in a, "rude, insolent, or angry manner." Adeniyi and the daycare claimed in a "special report" that she was, "playing with (redacted), lifted him in the air, and when I put him back down his ankle rolled." The report provided by the daycare indicated that an ice pack was provided. The victim's father took the toddler to an area hospital when he noticed that the child could not put weight on it. An x-ray determined that he had a fractured tibia. 2 arrested for child neglect after baby found in feces with 13 cats After returning to the daycare and seeing the video footage, the child's father contacted the police. On July 29, after also reviewing the video, the Department of Child Services released a statement that said the video, "Does not appear to be playful from video provided. Impression is inflicted based on information provided." The victim was placed in a cast for approximately 3 weeks. The cast has since been removed, but the victim's parent advised that it had lasting effects on his walking gait. Adeniyi is no longer employed with the daycare. This is an active investigation.
