1 dead following stabbing near North I35; suspect taken into custody, APD says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person died Friday morning after reports of an incident occurring near North Interstate 35.
According to APD, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers responded to a call with reports of a stabbing in the 6000 block of N. I-35 Service Road heading north and lanes in the area were shut down.
At the scene, officers found a victim with stab wounds, and APD said a suspect was detained and taken into custody.

Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the incident and took an adult to a trauma center with critical, life-threatening injuries. In an update, the person was pronounced dead at 10:48 a.m.
APD homicide detectives and a public information officer are heading to the scene.
According to first responders, a media briefing will be held at a future time.
