Happy Fri-yay, DMV! We finally made it to the end of the week, and your Friday is not off to a bad start. Dry and mostly cloudy conditions will be the trend today with patchy morning fog. The fog will slowly begin to dissipate a little after sunrise. Some sunny breaks will be possible this afternoon with light winds shifting out of the southeast. A weak cold front will pass through the DMV this afternoon into the early evening hours, sparking up a few isolated showers and storms. Showers and storms will pop up first near I-81 early afternoon before moving closer to the beltway during the second half of the afternoon into the early evening hours. Today will not be a washout. Highs today will reach into the 70s. Storms will begin to dissipate this evening due to the loss of daytime heating. Partly cloudy skies will kick start our Friday night. Clouds will finally roll out of the area during the overnight hours. Lows tonight will dip into the 60s. Wall-to-wall sunshine will be seen this weekend as high pressure builds in the New England area. Afternoon highs on Saturday and Sunday will reach into the 70s. That high will begin to move offshore Sunday afternoon, and a cold front will move into the area, overnight Sunday into the early morning hours of Monday. This will once again spark up showers and storms across the area. Overnight lows will dip into the 60s. Patchy fog will be possible as we head into the new work week with drier conditions expected as we head through Monday afternoon. Cooler temperatures will be felt across the area heading into the rest of the week with highs struggling to get out of the 60s. 7-Forecast: Fri-yay: Mostly cloudy skies with a chance of isolated afternoon/evening showers and storms.
