BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An East Baton Rouge Sherriff's Office prison deputy was arrested after she was accused of bringing contraband into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Tybracia Gibson, 26, of Baker, was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office and three counts of entering contraband into a penal facility. Gibson, who was hired in 2019 with EBRSO, was terminated before her arrest on Thursday, Oct. 3. On Monday, Sept. 30, GIE agents were informed of a possible EBRSO deputy entering contraband into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. According to the affidavit, investigators with the East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office had been monitoring phone calls where an inmate was reportedly instructing his brother, Rashine Alexander, to call a woman at a particular number. GIE agents examined the intercepted phone calls and were able to acquire an arrest warrant for Gibson. Gibson was taken into custody on Thursday. According to an affidavit, Gibson told investigators she had a relationship with Rashawn Alexander for several years prior to his arrest. Gibson said when Alexander was arrested in 2024, he began "sending her money on CashApp or Apple Pay." She said Alexander, then, requested that Gibson bring unknown contraband into the prison. According to an affidavit, Gibson told investigators that she brought envelopes containing unknown contraband on three occasions. She alleged she met with Alexander's brother, who she did not know, to receive the envelopes each time.
