ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester nonprofit is able to help more local families thanks to some recent grant funding from Tom Golisano. Rochester Hope for Pets was founded in 2008 with the goal of providing financial assistance to pet owners faced with costly procedures. Depending on the case, they can cover up to 30 percent of the bill for things like emergency surgeries or dental procedures. They also offer spay and neuter services at a reduced cost. Folks with the non-profit say they've seen first hand how big of a difference this can make in the lives of local families. "Health care costs, like everything else, is going up, especially in veterinary medicine," Rochester Hope for Pets President Todd Wihlen said, "and its mostly out of pocket pay. So these big bills pop up unexpectedly and that's where we come in to try and help." Rochester Hope for Pets is holding its fundraising gala this spring. Click here for more information.
