WESTFIELD, Ind. — A husband and wife are under arrest after their child took meth from their home and handed it out at school, causing two 13-year-old students to be hospitalized. Brooke M. Garcia and Freddy M. Garcia of Westfield are charged with multiple counts of possession of methamphetamine and neglect of a dependant, Level 5 and Level 6 felonies. According to court documents, police were called to Westfield Middle School on Sept 24 after two 13-year-old students were found to be "sweating profusely" with elevated heart rates and "extremely dilated" pupils. Henry County parents charged with child neglect resulting in death One of the students confessed to a teacher that they had swallowed meth acquired from one of the Garcias' children. Police ended up searching the Garcia family home on Union Street in Westfield where meth was found in the parent's bedroom along with glass smoking devices. Police said the drugs were easily accessible and not stored in a secure manner despite six children living in the home. The state of the home was also deemed unsafe with exposed electrical wiring found in multiple rooms, broken glass found throughout the home and insects riddled throughout the dwelling. Police said there was also rotting food and soiled clothing and bedding strewn inside the home. "The odor of urine and feces also permeated the air," an officer noted in a police report. A warrant for Brooke Garcia's arrest was issued on Wednesday. Freddy Garcia appears to already be in jail, according to online court records.
