  COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Many places around the Midlands are continuing to give back to others in their time of need. Many people in the Palmetto State are still without running water, and working electricity as officials work to restore resources in the state after Hurricane Helene. Helene caused damage throughout the Carolinas and the southeastern states, which are all working to recover after the storm. LEXINGTON COUNTY: Pelion Church of the Nazarene will be opening their food pantry (non-perishable food) and fellowship hall on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for any family who needs it. Also, showers will be available and hot meal will be served during this time, says the Pelion Police Department. The church is located at 474 Pine Street in Pelion, South Carolina, and the fellowship hall is located on Norris Street behind the church.   Arise Church will have free hot meals, charging stations, and air conditioning for anyone in need on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The church is located at 227 Lincreek Drive in Columbia, S.C. (right by the Irmo side of the dam, behind the Jasmine House).   According to a post by Irmo Outreach on Facebook, there will be free lunch on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Bart’s Good Coffee parking lot (7949 Broad River Road, in Irmo) beginning at 11 a.m.     NEWBERRY COUNTY: Water and ready-to-go meals are being distributed at the Newberry County Fire Department Consolidated 5 (3464 SC-34, Pomaria).
