ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The City of Rochester will be celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day on October 14! In 2022, the Rochester City Council declared the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples Day. For many years before that declaration, the Planning Committee has been holding events to celebrate and help educate the community about the history of this regions Indigenous community. This year the event will start at Cobbs Hill Park for a sunrise ceremony before heading over to the Genesee Valley Park where artists and vendors will be set up along with a number of events scheduled right up until sunset.
