NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A teen was arrested in New Bedford after detectives seized drugs and firearms were discovered at a residence. According to officials, on Saturday Sept. 28, detectives concluded their investigation into a cocaine distribution service being operated out of a residence on Earle Street by Matthew O’Brien. As a result of the search that followed, detectives seized a plastic bag of crack cocaine weighing 28.5 grams, 17 tabs of oxycodone, 12 partial tabs of Adderall, and a plastic zip bag of marijuana weighing 63.1 grams. O’Brien also allegedly had two digital scales, packaging materials, and $4,134 that was seized as a result of the nature of the charges. In addition to the narcotics, police seized one Glock 48 9mm firearm and one Sig Sauer P365 with a defaced serial number and ammunition. O’Brien allegedly has no license to possess firearms. O’Brien was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, as well as Class B. He was also charged with possession of a large-capacity firearm for use of a felony with the serial number defaced and possession of ammunition. O’Brien was placed on probation out of 3rd District Court in May with a two-year suspended sentence. Categories: News
