BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The United States Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration announced Tuesday that it has given $1.22 billion to Louisiana for 12 formula programs that invest in the nation's infrastructure.
The funding provided to Louisiana will offer transportation leaders the flexibility to carry on with rebuilding roads and bridges, while also making the state's transportation system more effective, according to the news release.
According to the news release, $62 billion was allocated nationwide under the fourth year of funding under the Biden-Harris Administration's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which provides $550 billion over fiscal years 2022 through 2026 in new federal investment in infrastructure. It was signed into law by President Joe Biden in Nov. 2021.
"The $62 billion the Biden-Harris Administration announced today will help communities in Louisiana continue to rebuild roads and bridges, implement new and innovative transportation solutions, strengthen our supply chains, and create good-paying jobs nationwide," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
