UPDATE: SCDPS revised the state's storm-related death toll to 36 on Tuesday afternoon. The new numbers show three deaths occurred in Laurens County. -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The number of storm-related deaths in South Carolina continues to rise. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety reported Tuesday morning that 33 people have died across 11 counties as a result of the recent hurricane. LIST: Where to donate storm relief supplies in the Lowcountry The highest number of deaths have occurred in Aiken, Greenville, and Spartanburg counties. Aiken - 6 Anderson - 4 Chester - 2 Chesterfield - 1 Greenville - 6 Greenwood - 1 Newberry - 2 Richland - 1 Saluda - 3 Spartanburg - 6 York – 1 Laurens – 3 Heather Biance with the SC Dept. of Public Safety said the deaths were confirmed through coroners in each county.
