Nihilistic visions of a broad swath of the Middle East controlled by the new Israel, killing or expelling Palestinians right and left, scattering other national/ethnic groups as well, especially the blasted Shia of Lebanon, clustered in the slums of southern Beirut, to which many of them had fled to from southern Lebanon, during the everlasting civil war and Israeli intervention. Remnants of the crusader castles are spread throughout this eastern Mediterranean area…the crusaders who couldn’t hold the land, but could kill and pillage. All this death and destruction—what is it good for? While my local city commissioner candidates argue whether to sweep “unsanctioned” campsites or not, the federales—who could be sending us more money to house the poor—are sending more arms to Israel. Bernie and our Senator Merkley want to stop the tide of arms, but it is like the small boy putting his finger in the dike to stop the flood. Inshallah (God willing or hopefully) something or someone(s) stops the tide of war. Inshallah that Kamala starts listening to Bernie and Jeff, instead of AIPAC.
