(WPRI) — A Title IX investigation has been launched against the head cheerleading coach at West Warwick High School, Taylor Gargano, 12 News has learned. Superintendent Karen Tarasevich confirmed that the head cheerleading coach was placed on administrative leave on Friday, per the district's policy, after they received an anonymous complaint regarding alleged misconduct. "We understand the seriousness of this situation and are committed to ensuring a fair and comprehensive investigation," Tarasevich said in a statement to 12 News. In a statement to 12 News, Gargano's attorney said, "Ms. Gargano takes the allegations of misconduct very seriously. At this time, it is important to note that there has been no allegation of any physical misconduct with any of her cheerleaders or students." "She is confident that the school department’s investigation will exonerate her, and she looks forward to returning to her coaching role in short order."
