Ice Castles at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center will return this winter and feature a new design with tunnels, caverns, towers, fountains and, all slides built entirely from ice. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 26.Color-changing LEDs embedded in the ice will illuminate the acre-sized winter playground. The attraction also offers horse-drawn sleigh rides, and, new this winter, attendees can see a nightly fire show atop the icy towers after sunset.Construction on the ice castles is scheduled to begin late October, and the attraction is likely to open in late December or early January and stay open through mid-to-late February, according to a press release. “We are excited to return to Utah where the magic started years ago to create an enchanting experience for our guests,” said Ice Castles’ CEO Kyle Standifird. “Our team is eager to craft something truly unique in Midway, along with a clash of fire and ice as flames dance amidst the Ice Castles backdrop.” 20 “ice artisans” will spend several weeks building the experience using icicles that they grow, harvest and hand place one-by-one.The Utah-based company will have a total of five locations this year, including in Minnesota; New Hampshire; Eagle, Colorado and Cripple Creek, Colorado.
