ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A long-time festival was hosted in Albuquerque on Sunday. It celebrated folk music. Held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Albuquerque Folk Festival featured several performance venues, music and dance workshops, and a musical instrument petting zoo. The event is aimed to pass on knowledge, skills, and traditions to ensure the survival of folk activities. Long-time fall festival shines spotlight on Japanese culture "I had a reintroduction to music several years ago. I took several years off to raise kids, but I've been playing since I was young. It was through the folk fest that I got reintroduced back into this music, specifically old time music," said Performance Director Jason Sewell. Organizers also encourage musicians to attend events like the folk festival and other open jams around Albuquerque to get involved.
