Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that a man found dead next to his vehicle near the Jordanelle Reservoir died of a gunshot wound, and identified him as Patrick L. Hayes, 61, of Hideout.An autopsy was performed and the State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was homicide. At about 11 a.m. on Thursday, Wasatch County 911 Center received a report of a possible deceased person near Ross Creek Trailhead north of Jordanelle Reservoir. Deputies then found a deceased adult male outside a vehicle on the roadway’s shoulder. The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said that the preliminary investigation indicates a possible road-rage incident may have occurred prior to the death, possibly around 11 p.m. the night prior.Investigators are looking for a second vehicle, which they think might be a Jeep Gladiator or a Jeep Rubicon, possibly with front-end damage.“The sooner you turn yourselves in to deal with the situation, the better,” reads a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
