ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – A woman was left with serious injuries after her husband allegedly ran over her leg by accident when picking up a group from dinner in Manchester. According to Ontario County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to West Main Street in Manchester around 7:49 p.m. and found a 74-year-old woman being aided by several good Samaritans who attempted to control her bleeding by utilizing a leather belt as a tourniquet. OCSO says the woman suffered a serious laceration to her right leg which caused heavy bleeding. Ontario County Sheriff's Deputies and New York State Police attempted to control the bleeding until a Fingerlakes Ambulance arrived on scene to transport her to Strong Memorial Hospital. During an investigation it was learned that a 74-year-old man was pulling his vehicle closer to a restaurant on West Main Street to pick up several passengers and family members after eating dinner. OCSO says the man allegedly began to drive forward as his wife was getting into the back seat of the vehicle and the man thought everyone was already inside. This caused the back tire to drive over the woman's leg causing serious injury. When the man realized he had mistakenly drove over his wife's leg he immediately put the vehicle back into reverse, removing the tire from over top of her leg. OCSO notes that the man was not impaired or intoxicated at the time, and that the incident appears to be an accident due to lack of attention or distraction.
