WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Excitement filled Warwick City Park as participants laced up their sneakers for the 26th annual Optimism Walk and 5K Fun Run. Organizers said that the event was not just about raising money but also for building community support for those affected by Parkinson’s Disease. “With the funds raised in the Rhode Island chapter, we support local groups, exercise programs, and research, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure,” Rhode Island American Parkinson Disease Association chapter President Joseph Golomboski. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, runners and walkers took to the accessible course. “Whether it’s copays or exercise classes or aids, anything that improves their quality of life, we provide that direct support as well,” Fundraising Manager Michelle March said. Prizes were awarded to the first male, female, and youth finishers. Categories: News, Rhode Island, Warwick
