Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities —attributed to Voltaire (1694-1778)Trump continues to make extraordinary allegations on a daily basis. Some people may think the allegations are utter nonsense, while others may believe that they are akin to God’s truth. I have generally been firmly of the view that his allegations are simply utter absurdities, the belief in which motivates his ardent believers to commit atrocities. For me, the best example of this is the absurdity that the 2020 election was “stolen,” an allegation that led his supporters to the atrocity of invading the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Disinformation and confusion were spread, democracy was shaken, criminals were jailed, people died. But what if I’m wrong? What if the absurdity is my belief that the 2020 election was “free and fair,” and the atrocity is most significant electoral fraud of the past 100 years? If the election was indeed stolen, then it is up to all of us to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We need to be vigilant. We need to know what to look for. We need to be educated. It is imperative for the preservation of democracy that those who understand how the election was stolen in 2020, explain it slowly, clearly and concisely to the rest of us.I suggest a presentation to be moderated by The Park Record in the Park City Library Auditorium. The presentation would ideally detail exactly how the fraud occurred and provide all the relevant and reliable evidence necessary. This should not be onerous, as those who assert the election was stolen must already be in possession of the evidence supporting the theory. They merely need to show what they already have.Without wishing to pre-empt the presentation, here are some issues which I would be most grateful to have addressed in the presentation:In December 2020, did Trump hire two private research firms, Berkeley Research Group and Simpatico Software Systems, to investigate his allegations of voter fraud? Did both these firms report that they could find no evidence of voter fraud? Why were these critical reports not released to the American public for over two years? Why did the director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in the Trump administration, Christopher Krebs, call the 2020 vote “the most secure in American history”? Why did Trump’s own attorney general call the various claims made by the Trump legal team on the 2020 election “bullshit,” “completely bullshit,” “absolute rubbish,” “idiotic,” “bogus,” “stupid,” “crazy,” “crazy stuff,” “complete nonsense,” and “a great, great disservice to the country”? Stealing an election would require the collaboration of hundreds of people. Why has not a single person leaked critical insider information of this massive conspiracy in over four years? Why did Trump fail to win more than a single case in the circa 62 lawsuits filed in front of circa 86 judges (some appointed by Trump)? Rudy Giuliani made very specific allegations against election workers, accusing them of election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. Why did a jury find that he had defamed them and awarded $146 million in damages? When Rudy Giuliani’s was disbarred by the Appellate Division First Department in New York, why did the ruling say it was as a consequence of Giuliani’s “demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers, and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump’s failed effort at reelection in 2020”? Fox News supported the allegations of election fraud, especially against Dominion Voting Systems. Internal communications showed the network was concerned that not reporting the allegations of election fraud would alienate viewers and cause them to switch to rival conservative networks, impacting corporate profitability. If their claims were actually true, why on earth did Fox News settle with Dominion for $787.5 million!?I’m sure I’ll have other questions that can be easily answered at the presentation.A quick caveat. If the “stolen election theory” relies on the involvement of The Deep State or the One World Government or the Illuminati or the Jews … then honestly, let’s just not bother. This is critical and important stuff. If it is proven that the election was stolen in 2020, then we should all scream that from the rooftops. If it cannot be proven, suggesting Trump is lying on a colossal and unprecedented scale in a reckless and dangerous manner, then we’ll all scream that from the rooftops.Do we have a deal?Frans Bicker CaartenPark CityThe post Plain there’s no proof appeared first on Park Record.
