YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Every year, since 1994, national parks around the country celebrate National Public Lands Day with free park entrance and the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort. The annual event makes the national parks around the country more accessible to visitors by dropping admission fees, which are usually $35 per vehicle. Although entrance fees are waived, certain national parks will still require reservations - including Yosemite National Park. If entering between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m., parkgoers will be required to purchase a $2 reservation. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks do not require reservations. Visitors who want to help preserve and restore the outdoors have the opportunity to do so in both Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. Yosemite is hosting its 21st annual Yosemite Facelift between Sept. 25 and Sept. 29. Those who want to volunteer can register here. Sequoia National Park's cleanup efforts will take place on Sept. 28 at the Lodgepole Campground from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers can sign up here. According to the National Park Service, those who volunteer on National Public Lands Day could receive a free one-day pass to any national park.
