Emergency Officials Advise Residents To Prepare To Evacuate If You Live Near Rivers Or Lakes In The Area

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Agency issued an evacuation warning for residents living near the Catawba River, Lake Norman, and Lake Wylie.
Flood waters will rise rapidly as Duke Energy moves large amounts of rainwater through the Catawba River system, Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, and Mountain Island Lake.
Residents need to prepare to evacuate immediately.
Shelter is being provided at the Tuckaseegee Rec Center at 4820 Tuckaseegee Road.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. – A flash flood emergency has been issued for the Lake Lure Dam by the National Weather service (NWS). Residents in the area are urged to evacuate to higher ground immediately.
The NWS has confirmed that dam failure is imminent.
Flash Flood Emergency is in effect until 2 a.m. Saturday, September 28th.
