(KRON) -- A Fairfield car crash has injured two people and killed an unborn child on Tuesday evening, the Fairfield Police Department announced. Woman killed by vehicle while crossing street in Fairfield At about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, police said a pregnant woman and her toddler were crossing East Tabor Avenue near Manor Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle. "The car narrowly missed striking the stroller the woman was pushing with her toddler inside," FPD said. The mother, according to police, was sent to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition as of this report. Her toddler also received care for minor injuries. "Unfortunately, her unborn child did not survive," police said. Police said the driver remained at the scene following the crash and has been cooperative with the investigation. "It is not believed impaired driving was a contributing factor, but the investigation remains ongoing," FPD said. This is the second fatal crash that has occurred in Fairfield within the last 24 hours.
