BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The historic Wesley United Methodist Church will commemorate the 59th anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act with a voter registration event. Souls to the Polls and Social Justice Sunday will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 29. Sunday will be more than just a church service. Various representatives from religious, educational, not-for-profit and government groups, along with other leaders, will share information on how people can register to vote, learn about getting transportation to the polls and other ways they can support and get involved in the voting process. The Rev. J. C. Richardson, Wesley's visionary pastor, encourages everyone to be involved before November's election.
