One dead in Gentillyarea crash on I610

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A person is dead following a crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Gentilly area of New Orleans.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash, which happened on Interstate 610 West at the St. Bernard Avenue exit, was initially reported around 1:49 p.m. and confirmed around 2:33 p.m.
One person was declared dead in the preliminary investigation. A source has since confirmed that the deceased person was a DOTD worker.

I-610 West is currently closed at the location of the crash while investigation continues at the scene.
