What will Fort Wayne's mayor be paid in 2025?
Sep 24, 2024
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — In the past as a city council member, Sharon Tucker has had to approve a budget the city handed her, but now as the mayor, it's her office that is putting it together.
As is typical - it's proposed that elected members of the city will see raises, with the city clerk crossing the six-digit mark in 2024.
The salary ordinance that city council has yet to pass gives the following numbers:
Mayor: $159,583 (was $153,935)
Common Council (City Council): $27,648 (was $26,842 in 2024)
City Clerk: $101,624 (was $98,665 in 2024)
That means (assuming 8 hours worked a day and a normal 5-day work week over 52 weeks) the mayor will make about $74 per hour, the clerk $47 and city council members about $13.
Calutalting other city positions isn't as cut and dry. The city ranks employees on different tiers, and each tier has a range of potential earnings.
For example, the fire chief is a tier 16 employee and can make between $143,565.44 (about $69 per hour) and $200,991.40 (about $96 per hour) a year, while a crime analyst with the police department is a grade 5 employee and can make between $50,413.48 (about $24 an hour) and $70,444.25 (about $33 per hour) a year.
You can see the proposed list of salaries for all city employees in the ordinance below.
