MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis Police officer was involved in a crash early Tuesday morning after they saw two males allegedly breaking into a car in South Memphis, according to reports. It started when officers said they responded to an active prowler call in the area of Meadowhill Street and Menager Road. Two male suspects appeared to be breaking into a red vehicle. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a red Nissan parked on the curb. But two males were inside of a red Camaro. After the suspects saw the police, they allegedly got in the Nissan and drove off. MPD officer involved in overnight car crash in Midtown That is when officers performed a U-turn and drove back to Menager Road, turning west. That's when the suspect's vehicle collided with the police car. Police say they lost the suspect's vehicle on Hernando Road and East Person Avenue after attempting to get the tag number. Officers then went back to Meadowhill Street and located the red Camaro and the owner. There was no reported damage to the vehicle and no property was reported taken.
