AUSTIN (KXAN)-- Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Film Commission along with the Bob Bullock State History Museum announced the revival of the Texas Focus Film Series, according to a news release from Abbott's office. For more than 50 years, the Texas Film Commission has fostered job and economic growth in the state by promoting Texas as a top destination for "film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video games, and extended reality productions," the release said. The Texas Focus Film Series shows films made by, for and about Texans, the release said. “Texas has a rich and fascinating film history that spans over 100 years, with iconic feature films and TV shows produced in every corner of our great state,” Abbott said in the release.  The series will kick off Oct. 18 with a 50th-anniversary screening of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," in the Texas Spirit Theatre at the Bob Bullock State History Museum, the release said. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was one of the first films the Texas Film Commission secured filming and production for in the state, the release said.
