PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The office manager of a Pawtucket medical practice has been sentenced after being convicted for misappropriating almost $570,000 in funds and an additional $11,000 in TDI benefits, according to the Rhode Island U.S. Attorney. Tianna Keller, 59, was sentenced in District Court to 27 months in federal prison and will pay $579,857 in restitution to her former employer, an insurance company that covered some of the losses and the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training Temporary Disability Benefits Program (TDI). Keller’s schemes added family members and friends as unauthorized paid employees and used patient co-payments to pay tens of thousands of dollars in personal credit card debt, cell phone bills and college tuition payments for a family member. Once the scheme was discovered, Keller went on medical leave and she was later terminated from the practice and applied for and received TDI benefits. Keller also found new employment but continued to collect TDI benefits. Categories: News, Rhode Island
