FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Three drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI at a checkpoint Friday in Clovis, according to the Clovis Police Department.
Police say 361 drivers were contacted at the checkpoint that was held westbound on Herndon Avenue at Helm Avenue from 8 p.m. through 1 a.m.
According to police, five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. One driver was arrested for multiple drug charges after failing to stop at the checkpoint and being pulled over a short distance away.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, police say.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
