SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- From North County's Michelin starred Valle restaurant to TJ Oyster Bar in the South Bay, the county's dining scene is flavorfully versatile. There's now a way to enjoy some of the best dishes in the region without leaving the comfort of your own home, as long as you hit the grocery store first that is. A seasoned food and travel writer, whose work has appeared in "Condé Nast Traveler,” “Lonely Planet,” “New York Magazine and even "San Diego Magazine," has curated a collection of recipes from some of San Diego’s favorite dining spots. San Diego spot ranked third best place to grab a cheeseburger in US, according to Yelp Author Ligaya Malones will release her new cookbook, titled “San Diego Cooks: Recipes from the Region’s Favorite Eateries, Bakeries, and Bars,” on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Malones, a passionate advocate of the local food scene, sat down with local chefs to create the collection with what she described as "easy-to-find ingredients and simple instructions." From casual cafes to high-end sushi restaurants, the cookbook explores the diversity that is San Diego through food and culture. Deanna Sandoval, a local food and lifestyle photographer, showcases the details of each dish while honoring the chefs in their element. “San Diego’s culinary landscape is as diverse and vibrant as its people. Along with Deanna’s vivid photos, “San Diego Cooks” captures some of its magic and flavors,” said Malones. “This book is meant to be accessible to cooks of all levels, no matter where they are.
