NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — A Norman woman said the appliances in her house have been on the fritz for months and her landlord isn't doing much except asking for rent. Joe Reiners said her fridge leaks daily, forcing her to cover the floor with towels. She said she told her landlord about the issues several times, but nothing has been done. "It has been literally a financial hassle," said Reiners. Reiners said she moved into her home near Creekdale Drive back in January and problems started popping up right away. "I realized my garbage disposal doesn't work," said Reiners. "It was so clogged, there were bottle cap tops in there, there was hair in there, a bunch of stuff. And it was like covered in dirt, like it has been sitting there for a while. I did not do that." She said her landlord sent a maintenance man to fix the issue, but months late Reiner's disposal still does not work along with other appliances. "I was loading the dishwasher, I was like, oh my gosh, there is mold at the bottom, there's mold at the top, and there was water filled at the bottom," said Reiners. Insurance company ‘not renewing’ some policies in OK due to wildfire risk Reiners said for months her garbage disposal, dishwasher and refrigerator haven't been working properly and said she's told her landlord multiple times. "I texted her about it because she asked me about rent this month and I had let her know, these things are a big issue, and this house is starting to become like, unlivable. Like, that's not fair to me. All she responded with was, 'can you pay your rent?'" said Reiners. News 4 called Reiners' landlord. "That's my answer to you. If you were to ask me a question, we'll at least take a look at it, what's going on," said Reiners' landlord. Reiners said she just wants the problems to be resolved for good. "If she had no working appliances, you know, she would be furious as well," sad Reiners. Reiner's landlord told us she was going to talk with her and get someone to look at her appliances.
