CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - It is the last full week of September, and this month could be one of the driest on record in Massachusetts.   Warmer temps, more rain expected this fall in New England One word to describe September of 2024 is dry. So far this month there has been only .27 inches of rain here in western Massachusetts and that all came on September 7th. The average rainfall for September is 3.9 inches which leaves it at a 3.63-inch deficit when it comes to rainfall.  As of now, there is no drought here in western Massachusetts, but eastern Massachusetts and parts of New Hampshire are starting to enter abnormally dry drought conditions.
