Traffic stop in Chicopee leads to arrest of Indian Orchard man, gun seized

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A traffic stop in Chicopee led to the arrest of an Indian Orchard man after a handgun was seized Monday morning.
Driver ticketed for operating on bike path in Chicopee
According to the Chicopee Police Department, an officer monitoring traffic around the 900 block of Chicopee Street at 12:07 a.m. on Monday observed a vehicle speeding, as the vehicle was going 16 miles over the posted speed limit of 25 MPH.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on Bolduc Lane and witnessed the driver ducking in and out of sight. The officer exited his cruiser once a backup officer arrived, and observed the driver reaching under his seat.
The driver complied with the officers and stepped out of his vehicle. He was identified as 35-year-old Travis Jackson of Indian Orchard. The backup officer searched the driver's seat of Jackson's car and a loaded Lugar 9MM handgun was found between the seat and center console.
Jackson could not provide a License to Carry and was placed under arrest. During an inspection of the handgun, the serial number had appeared to been removed. Jackson's vehicle also had an expired registration.
