VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Regent University in Virginia Beach is looking to build a new 31-acre sports complex. The announcement on Monday comes as the private Christian school seeks to join the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III level. They were approved for an exploratory year of Division III membership earlier this year. Furthermore, we look forward to welcoming the Hampton Roads community and hosting sports tournaments in these world-class facilities.” The new complex is expected to feature a 2,000-capacity, NCAA-certified basketball and volleyball competition court, a 400-meter track, baseball and softball fields and other facilities. Regent also announced a partnership with Orlando Magic player Jonathan Isaac, whose UNITUS apparel brand will sponsor the Regent men’s & women’s basketball teams. “I’m so excited the Regent basketball program will be sporting the Judah 1 basketball sneaker, which is the first NBA signature sneaker with visible Bible verses on the outside,” Isaac said. “The whole idea is encouraging believers to stand up for what we believe in and be proud and confident about who we are in Christ.” You can read more about the project here.
