BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — In the heart of North Dakota, the sounds of fall are drumming to a new beat -- through the Autumnfest Parade. Thousands came to the North Dakota Capitol to take in the sounds of marching bands from across the Bismarck-Mandan area. The parade kicked off Saturday afternoon at the capitol and continued down 6th Street, west on East Avenue C, and north up 4th Street to return to the Capitol. But people didn't just take in the sounds. There was a lot to see at this year's parade, including beauty queens, floats, horses, and clowns. And for many who are new to this year's parade… it's an event to remember. "It's good for the kids," says Johnny Morin, a parent of one of the marching band musicians. "Music, cars, people, laughing. It's a beautiful day!"
