PAGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Shenandoah National Park is warning drivers to be alert as deer season approaches.
According to a post from the park, October through early December is when bucks start to compete for mates -- also known as the annual deer rut -- causing deer sightings to increase throughout the park.
The park aims to remind visitors that deer often cross roads at dawn and dusk, and they ask drivers to proceed with caution, be alert and slow down.
