Quarterbacks A:. Drew Allar was accurate and mobile, connecting with different receivers. Beau Pribula offset his interception by accounting for two TDs. Running backs A: Led by Nick Singleton’s 81 yards, the Nittany Lions rushed for 309 yards and three TDs and averaged 6.2 yards per carry. Receivers A: Tight end Tyler Warren caught a TD pass and threw one, and Omari Evans is emerging as the deep threat that Penn State has lacked. Offensive linemen A: They paved the way for the Lions to set school records for total yards (718) and first downs (40). Defensive linemen A: They made a big improvement against a lesser opponent and helped limit Kent State to 49 rushing yards. Linebackers A: Freshman Tony Speca had a game-high five tackles, all in the second half. One worry is that Dominic DeLuca was injured and did not return. Defensive backs A: They really weren’t tested, especially after two Kent State quarterbacks were injured in the first half and did not return. Special teams B: Another solid game by the kickers, but punt returner Kaden Saunders fumbled for the second time in as many games. Coaches A: The Lions accomplished their goals, being more efficient on third down, spreading the ball around and tackling better.
