RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Fall begins this weekend, and it will feel like fall with temperatures in the upper 70s for the week ahead. Today will be a warmer day with a mixture of sun and clouds. Today will be warm and muggy with highs in the low to middle 80s. Showers and thunderstorms will move in from the west around the dinner hour and continue to spread east. Many of these storms will break up, but we have the risk of a few scattered storms overnight through early tomorrow morning. Gusty winds and small isolated hail are the main threats and don’t be surprised if you are woken up by a rumble of thunder or 2. Tomorrow we will see more clouds across the area, but also breaks of sun. It will be a cooler day with highs in the upper 70s. Tomorrow is also the Autumnal Equinox and Fall officially begins at 8:44AM. Fall like temperatures move in for the week ahead with highs in the upper 70s to near 80.  There will be a good amount of clouds around for the work week as multiple weak disturbances move in. Rain chances aren’t plentiful, but we do have a few chances of showers and storms. Late day isolated storms will move in on Tuesday. The greater chance of seeing showers and storms will be Wednesday with scattered storms across the area. We are also watching a few areas of interest in the tropics that have a chance of tropical development. The area we are closely watching right now is the Gulf of Mexico as there is a wave that has a good chance of developing over the next week. We will keep you updated.
