CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield Police are investigating a crash that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries and closed down a section of Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway). Officers were called to the 7000 block of Route 1 for a reported single-vehicle crash around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. According to police, the vehicle had crashed into a utility pole in the median and the lone occupant had been taken to Chippenham Hospital with serious injuries. "The crash has resulted in Route 1 southbound being closed between Swineford Rd and Drewrys Bluff Rd for an extended period," a police spokesperson said in a release.
