ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A grieving family is pleading for answers after 63-year-old Myrtle Watson was killed in her Rochester home earlier this month. Friday, News 8 learned new details from Watson's family, who said she was stabbed multiple times. RPD: Woman, 63, found dead inside apartment on Sixth Street "Please, we're begging the community to help us. She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve this," a sister of Watson's told News 8. More often than not, 183 Sixth Street in Rochester was filled with music. "Myrtle Watson traveled all over the world, being in bands, some with the SOS band out of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a celebrity," Watson's boyfriend Larry Mallory said. Friends said Watson, known by those close to her as Pokie, was just like a second mother. They said she was always willing to help. "She was very caring. She looked out for everyone. She let people stay with her. She fed them, let them take baths. She even prayed with them," Myrtle's sister Sharon Watson said. "She was real good to me and I'm going to miss her. It's hard to let her go," a friend of Myrtle's, Edward Smith, said. Sept. 14, first responders filled Sixth Street. Police said that day, Myrtle Watson died inside her home from "trauma to her upper body," but wouldn't elaborate further. Larry and Sharon told News 8 Friday, they know more about what happened that night. "Anyone who did that. Anybody [who] stab somebody 60 to 80 times, they don't need to be walking on these streets," Mallory said. Friday night, family and friends gathered in front of Watson's Sixth Street to pay tribute to her. Candles now line the home, where folks shared fond memories of their loved one. "Don't let this be your mother. Don't let this be your sister," Sharon said. "We [are] asking for help." No suspects have been arrested in Myrtle’s death. Larry and Sharon said they need answers and called on the community for help so they can move forward. "We ask that anybody that know anything, don't be afraid," Mallory said. "Tell somebody, police, neighbor, friend, anybody. We are asking for your help. We ask [...] that you step up. Don't be afraid." Funeral services for Myrtle Watson will be held Thursday and Friday. Thursday's service will be from noon to 8 p.m. at Memories Funeral Home on Hudson Avenue. The funeral services will be held on Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
