ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For the second time in a week, Richard Pitino and his New Mexico men's basketball team got a commitment from the class of 2025. Six-foot tall point guard Jaylen Petty announced his commitment to the Lobos on his Instagram account Friday. Petty, from Seattle, Washington, is listed as a four-star recruit by 24/7 Sports. Petty, who plays his club ball with Dream Vision, went over the 1,000 point mark in January of 2024 during his junior season, scoring 1,025 points in 45 games for Auburn High. Petty won back-to-back North Puget Sound League MVP awards in 2023 and 2024 at Auburn and is set to transfer back to Rainier Beach High School for his senior year. He played his freshman season at Rainier. He had offers from Stanford, Oklahoma, UC Santa Barbara, and Fresno State. Earlier this week, New Mexico got a commitment from three-star combo guard Issac Williamson from Southern California.
