BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Organizations, like Southern University NAACP and community members, have started a donation memorial in honor of a Southern University student. Steven Harris's body was found shot and killed in Mississippi. Three suspects were arrested in connection to his death. Harris now leaves behind his son, but many organizations have been reaching out to lend a helping hand to his family. "The compassion is just, I am just consumed and overwhelmed," said LaSonia Harris, Steven's mother. She says she never knew her son was so well-loved outside of the Southern University Human Jukebox. "Didn't know that my son was so that much real connected with individuals. But just the compassion is just tremendous. And I'm over overjoyed with all of it," LaSonia said.
