COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Last month a car careened into the side of a local bike shop, forcing it to close due to safety concerns for the public. Now, they're welcoming customers back inside. Store manager Jonathan Youngman said it's been a stressful three 1/2 weeks, but now he can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the store is back on its feet. Watch: Franklinton Cycle Works reopens “It feels really great to be open again,” Youngman said. “It's just, it's hard when you can't, you know, do what you're here to do, to welcome people in and work on bikes and so, feels really good to be open again." At around 2 a.m. on Aug. 28, someone lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the front of Franklinton Cycle Works, taking out part of the retail space's western corner. After some temporary fixes, the city has allowed them to reopen. “We were basically waiting on some emergency repairs to be done just to ensure that the building was safe for people to be in here and that just took some time,” Youngman said. “We just had to wait on the right workers and the right parts and pieces to come in. But everyone was working hard to get it done quickly.” NBC4 anchors Cierra Johnson and Matt Barnes tie the knot in Columbus Though Youngman is elated that his business is open again, there are still permanent repairs that will cost upwards of $30,000, but there are plans in place to hopefully help with that. “We'll be having a fundraiser at Land Grant Brewing Company, just a good time inviting all of the community out to come, have a good time, be some DJs, some raffles and just, you know, a time to learn a little bit more about Franklinton Cycle Works and contribute to the rebuilding fund,” Youngman said. The fundraiser is set to take place on Friday, Sept. 27.
