Authorities have publicly identified a man who was fatally struck by a car last week after walking onto Interstate 5 near Mission Hills. Michael Stoecker, 35, was walking on the freeway south of Old Town Avenue when a southbound Volkswagen sedan hit him shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sept. 11, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Stoecker, who was homeless, died at the scene of the crash, the agency reported.
