FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A semi-truck driver is injured after the steel box container they were carrying was thrown onto the roadway following a hit-and-run on Highway 41 in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said. According to CHP, the crash occurred in the northbound lane of Highway 41 near the Highway 99 interchange shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Officers say a white SUV rear-ended the semi-truck carrying a steel box container. The container fell off onto the right lanes of the highway, and the SUV overturned before coming to rest in the fast lane. CHP says the driver of the big rig was injured. The status of the SUV driver is unknown as they fled the scene on foot and officers are still searching for the suspect. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to CHP.
