RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- One million LEGO bricks are coming to Richmond for a new exhibition at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, exploring the wonders of transportation history. The "Traveling Bricks" exhibition will be open from Oct. 19 through Jan. 5, 2025, bringing about one million LEGO bricks to the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. “Traveling Bricks is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the opening of the first U.S. LEGO facility in Virginia,” said Jamie Bosket, president and CEO at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. “This exhibition brings together two beloved aspects of life — LEGO bricks and Virginia's rich history — to create a captivating experience for guests of all ages.” (Courtesy of: World Touring Exhibitions / VMHC) According to the museum, this exhibition will include a 23.5-foot-long Titanic replica, a 10-foot-tall skyrocket, a 6.5-foot-long Boeing 747 plane and over 100 other display cars constructed from one million bricks. "Traveling Bricks" is said to be one of the biggest exhibitions of its kind and will highlight stories that connect the displays with Virginia's history of air, space, land and water transportation. The work, created by LEGO clubs with Richmond Public Libraries and Chesterfield County illustrations, will reflect what children in Virginia love about their state. Following the exhibition, The LEGO Group will open its first manufacturing plant in Richmond in 2027, and "Traveling Bricks" will share its story of the LEGO Group's arrival in Virginia.
