The former AutoNation Ford dealership may soon have new life in Wickliffe. According to Mayor Joe Sakacs, AutoNation, 28825 Euclid Ave., is currently under contract with an established Ford dealership to sell commercial trucks. “This is a huge opportunity as it could bring another 60 to 80 jobs here in Wickliffe on top of what’s coming with OLA and then eventually the old McDonald’s building,” Sakacs said. At 28801 Euclid Ave., Online Liquidation Auction LLC, or also known as OLA, will be opening in what was once the old drive-in, Palisades Palace bowling alley and RollHouse property. This opening will be another big win for the city, Sakacs said. The business has since grown, now selling more than 35,000 items weekly. A multimillion dollar renovation of OLA’s building inside and out is currently underway, as well as redoing the road and driveway, Sakacs said, noting it could be a few months before OLA’s opening. Sakacs anticipates the location will see between 800 to 1,000 cars on a daily basis as customers will be coming to pick up their items. Additionally, OLA may employ between 30 to 40 people within their first year, as well as see rapid growth from there. “This is great for the surrounding businesses,” Sakacs said. Meanwhile, at 28711 Euclid Ave., a New York-based company has purchased the former McDonald’s. The location found success at an auction, ultimately selling to the New York-based company, Sakacs said. Amid these economic development projects, Sakacs predicts major change in the west end section of Wickliffe going forward. “We need people, growth and jobs,” he said. “That’s how everything starts to change. That’s how the demographic starts to change.”
